Room of the Week – glamorous dining room
This weeks Room of the Week is an Oscars inspired glamorous dining room. From the House to Home galleries this room is perfect to give a Hollywood style dinner party whatever you are celebrating.
With today’s trend for open plan living, modern homes often do not have a dedicated space for formal dining but it is easy to create a mood if you do want to entertain in high style. Even if you don’t have a large table it can easily be created by laying a large piece of wood over a smaller table, or you could even dress up a wallpaper table to give you a large dining area.
The chairs used in this room are the Victoria Ghost chair designed by Phillipe Starck for Kartell. They are produced from a single injection mould of crystal-clear polycarbonate and available in a range of almost clear and some solid colours. Kartell also sell a similar chair with the addition of arms as shown below, this is the Ghost chair also designed by Phillipe Starck.
To enhance the luxury look a silver wallpaper has been used. The wallpaper below by Erica Wakerley and available from Wallpaper Direct has a bold and striking graphic leaf design drawn in fine metallic silver on a white background. This base could be teamed with some curtains in a crushed velvet to create a very high-end interior.
Using white table linen, as found in upmarket restaurants, will help to recreate the glamorous look. Zara Home has a great selection of tablecloths and coordinating napkins, the one shown below is around £50. To give the table the impression of being very well dressed try to get the largest tablecloth you can for your table.
To dress your table India Jane is a good place to find accessories. By using simple white crockery you can then dress the table up with the accessories, the Diamond napkin rings below would certainly add sparkle to any table. The final touch has been added by two simple candles, just enough to set the mood.
This look can easily and simply be recreated at home and allow you to bring your own touch of glamour and sparkle to any dinner party – your guests might even present you with a little gold statue!
