Get Together with Brabantia
Around a month ago the Brabantia Life team asked me to review their new Get Together range on my blog. Having previously thought they only did bins it was good to see them diversifying – and doing it well! So many manufacturers try to expand into new markets do it badly (fashion designers doing interiors spring to mind!) - but Brabantia have really planned this range, and I love it!
Having been on trial in Selfridges for a couple of months the formal launch of the range was yesterday so I was pleased to be invited to the press launch day at The Good Housekeeping Institute – an ideal location given their history of testing our household items since 1900!
First stop was Breakfast – laid out with bowls, cups, cutlery and textiles from the range, mixing the three colourways of white, grey and purple. This set featured one of my favourite items from the whole range – the delightful egg cups shown above. Made from a combination of a silicone ring and a stainless steel dish the egg cup is designed to be taken to the table as shown – you can then use the dish to hold the top of the egg shell once you have cut into your egg! A very igneous idea and a retail price of £10.95 for 2 means they are highly affordable.
Moving on to Afternoon Tea, this display featured another one of my favourite items. The plate shown below features a handy cutout that allows you to rest your cutlery without it falling off the plate. This simple design feature can be seen across several other pieces including the Salad bowl and Dip servers. Another great design aspect of the range is that the undersides of the plate come in white, grey or purple – allowing you to either use one colour scheme or mix it up for an eclectic look.
The breadth of the range ensures it works at anytime of the day and it features a number of items that can be used for entertaining. The Oil and Vinegar bottles shown below offer a smart way to store and use your olive oil or balsamic vinegar. Reassuringly heavy, they feel like a quality item and the clear glass part gives you a hint of what is inside. The Candle holders are of a similar quality and at just over £20 for the three sizes shown it is again affordable. There is also a range of Bread baskets in a textile finish that brings a softer touch to your dining table.
The press launch also included other Brabantia products not in the Get Together range. There are two new colour ranges of bins and accessories available, Vintage Blue and Taupe - but it is also now possible to choose the colour of your bin from the more than 200 official RAL colours. This allows you to add true individuality to your kitchen. Called ColourYourBin this option is available online and will also be available through high street retailers. Some of the brighter colour options are shown below.
Continuing with the theme of bringing colour into our lives, the Quickpull corkscrew shown below is now available in translucent Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple. While adding colour to your kitchen, it also works really well – it allows you to open bottles effortlessly, simply keep turning and the cork comes out – opening a bottle of wine has never been easier.
After seeing all the products I highly recommend you take a look at the new Get Together range and the other new exciting products from Brabantia. I am sure the range will be a huge success, I have already started to make a list of the products I want to buy!
