Interiors Calendar – October 2011
This is a monthly feature detailing Interiors focussed events for the following month, for example trade exhibitions, shows, art exhibitions or new store openings. After the madness of September when we were running from event to event for the London Design Festival the design calendar is calmer in October. We have one event in London and a few others suggestions worldwide if you want to travel further afield!
What: Moscow Design Week
Where: Moscow, Russian Federation
When: Tuesday 11 October – Sunday 16 October
To explore Russian design tastes head to the annual design week held in Moscow. This years exhibitors include Poltrona Frau, Flos and B&B Italia. These Italian manufacturers will be joined by 4 others and will all be exhibiting in the same venue. Giulio Cappellini is creating two installations to showcase their products.

Where: The Dairy, 7a Wakefield Street, London
When: Thursday 13 October – Monday 17 October
SuperDesign has been held annually for the last 5 years. It’s aim is to highlight the connection between design and the visual arts, and present contemporary designs in a new way. Products featured this year include lighting, sculpture and furniture.
What: Open House Chicago
Where: Chicago, USA
When: Saturday 15 October – Sunday 16 October
For one weekend only many of the greatest spaces and places in Chicago can be accessed through openhousechicago 2011. This year the focus is on sustainability and community – demonstrating how building can be energy-efficient, and also how good design can help to build communities.
What: Dutch Design Week
Where: Eindhoven, Holland
When: Thursday 22 October – Sunday 30 October
Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year Dutch Design Week is spread over 65 venues in 4 different areas in Eindhoven. There are over 1,500 exhibiting during the week, supplemented by more than 300 events! This is the place to see highly respected designers but also find newcomers and recent graduates.
