Room of the week – Modern living room
This weeks Room of the Week is a modern living room featuring upholstered furniture and different wood finishes. From the House to Home gallery the room creates a comfortable look for modern living.
This room features a plain neutral interior with the interest added through the use of wood and a small amount of pattern. This is one way to keep your interior fresh, a neutral base allows you to easily change the other elements on a regular basis.
The lovely Sanderson design Dandelion Clocks is featured on the upholstered chair in this room. If you aren’t brave enough to choose to use a heavily partnered fabric on a large piece of furniture adding it in a chair or a smaller piece of furniture is easier. Changing and updating at a later date can then be much simpler.
Adding a tripod style lamp can make your lighting into an interesting feature. There are now many versions available on the high street. This version from Lombok also features nickel-plated brass elements.
If you don’t have a working fireplace but have been left with an unused opening The Little Log Company sells decorative logs to allow you to dress your fireplace. This can add a warming element to the room. The company has a range of different logs to suit different interiors, a chunky pine and cedar mix is shown below.
Recreating a room like this can be easily achieved. Start with a neutral base and gradually add other elements until you have a smart modern look.
