Room of the Week – Luxury bedroom
This weeks Room of the Week is a bedroom with subtle accents of luxury. From the House to Home galleries this bedroom combines simple fittings with a luxury look and texture to create a very relaxing room.
Creating a luxurious bedroom doesn’t have to be about high-end products. This room uses a layers of good quality fixtures, fittings and upholstery that combine together to provide a beautiful room.
A low bed positioned on a platform adds a very casual aspect to the bedroom. The platform bed from Living It Up shown below would add a simple base that can easily be dressed up to provide a luxurious feel. This is a style of bed that benefits from very generous bedding, pillows and cushions.
Adding a rug with a long pile into a bedroom helps to enhance the feeling of luxury. Long pile rugs are not generally suitable to areas of high traffic but are perfect in a bedroom. The TouchMe range from Stepevi would be a great choice for a bedroom. The rug is manufactured using your choice of three different coloured threads from a collection of 76 colours. This allows you to create a bespoke rug that works completely with your interior.
The white leather pouffs in this image provide another textural aspect to the room. The decorating scheme in this room has a very tonal feel, there are no contrasting or opposing colours used. If you decorate using a tonal scheme you can add interest by using textures within the room. These Moroccan leather pouffs from Graham & Green can either be used singularly to add some texture or with a range of colours to add some sparkle!.
The subtle wallpaper adds another layer to the room discreetly rather than becoming a dominant feature wall. Wallpaper will give a softer look to the walls but if you do not want it to dominate the room choose one with a delicate pattern. The Classic wallpaper from Raffi below would add interest to a bedroom and gives you a base colour to build on.
Remember that adding layers of furnishings to your room while help to create a sumptuous feel. Just ensure everything works well together and you will create a room where you will want to spend your time – and it will be a restful refuge at the end of the day.
Today we are trying a new look on the blog – we are using larger images to show the ideas and products. Please comment below to let us know if you like the new look, or prefer the older style with smaller images. Thank you

Andrew I love the bigger pix, and they didn’t take long to download on email. Love the way you’ve islolated each component, the bed looks amazing all dressed up and perfect for that smallish room. Keep on Blogging, thanks nikki@getfurnished
Thanks for the feedback Nikki. Downloading was one of my main concerns so it’s good to hear it didn’t take long. Guess we will stick with the larger images
Hi Andrew,
The bigger pics make the blog ‘fizz’ even more than before! Definitely keep them.
It makes me realise i need a luxury bedroom…i HATE my bedroom, nothing matches, the lighting is poor, the curtains are awful, the mirror is on the floor, closet is a mess, i could go on but needless to say i don’t feel sumptuous in there. Saving grace; our bed is super comfortable. Top notch mattress and mattress topper.
