Room of the Week – Exotic living room

This weeks Room of the Week is an exotic living room featuring fabulous hand printed wallpaper.  From the House to Home gallery the room features rich fabrics to create a wonderfully coloured room.

Fromental make beautiful handmade wallpaper and fabrics. I discovered them at Decorex2011 where their products were featured throughout the show. The room above features a wallpaper from their Chinoiserie range. If you want a more subtle colour the beautiful wallpaper below would be a great choice. It provides a very calm atmosphere to this bedroom.

This weeks Room of the Week features a very simple sofa that is dressed up with an abundance of cushions. If you wanted to add some interest in the style of your sofa the Rita sofa from Made.com is a well designed piece of furniture. This high backed sofa is available for a very reasonable price of £799.

The look of the luscious berry tones used in this room are further enhanced by the use of very textural fabrics. Velvet is one of the most textural fabric available, it adds a touch of luxury to any interior. Harlequin produce an extensive range of velvets, Lucido shown below is available in 30 colours.

Adding a simple tripod lamp has added another element to this room.  This style of lamp have become very popular recently and there is now a wide variety available. Lombok sell the light below for £165 and it would make a stylish addition to any room.

Creating a rich exotic look can be easily achieved in your own home. Use a base of strong rich colours and add a few simple elements to create a room full of colour. Remember less can often be more so ensure you don’t add too many aspects and the room will be a success.
