Room of the Week – vibrant kitchen
This weeks Room of the Week is a brightly coloured kitchen. From the House to Home galleries this room would definitely wake you up on a cold winter morning!
The recent trend for white gloss kitchens has produced some very clean cool rooms but they can also look very bland. Adding colour to your room can overcome this, the level of colour you add will ultimately depend on how brave you are. The splashback shown here is a great feature but you would have to love the colour to choose it.
Topps Tiles sell a very affordable range of glass splashbacks to add colour to your kitchen. The Amethyst one shown is around £130, there are around 20 colours in their range. Other suppliers of glass splashbacks will be able to colour match for you, ie to your favourite Farrow and Ball colour. Always remember to ensure you tell your supplier where you intend to use it – glass behind a hob always needs to be toughened.
A stainless steel worktop can often add a very industrial look to a kitchen. Blanco however have a new range of steel worktops that would add a touch of elegance to any kitchen. The SolidEdge worktop has a very low profile and is combined here with a beautiful dark wood to create a stunning look.
If you want to add colour but don’t feel brave you could add a range of Pantone mugs to your kitchen. The range has recently been extended and now includes mugs and espresso mugs. Whether your favourite colour is Custard Yellow, Cornish Cream or Printers Blue there will be a mug for you – dotmaison.com has a good selection.
Adding effective colour to a kitchen can be achieved easily if you plan it carefully. Just remember that you will have to live with the colour throughout the year so ensure you love it!
