Room of the Week – 60s inspired bedroom
This weeks Room of the Week is a 60s inspired bedroom. From the House to Home galleries this bedroom features brightly coloured geometric patterns that are once again in fashion.
The mixture of patterns and colours in this room creates a widely colourful bedroom. After many years of plain neutrals colour is very much now back in fashion. With Spring approaching it’s a great time to think about adding some excitement to your interior!
Little Greene have recently launched a range of Retrospective wallpapers to compliment their Retrospective paints. Inspired by designs from the 1960s and 1970s the range has 8 different designs. Starflower is one of the louder designs available. Based on a Belgium design from the 60s any room decorated with this wallpaper would really rock.
Jonathan Adler sell a great range of pottery that would perfectly compliment the style of this room. For a cute companion this pottery cat takes some beating. After years of limited availability in the UK Jonathan has now opened a shop in London or you can buy online.
The 60s look will create a wow factor bedroom but you have to take a leap of faith to decorate in this style. If you aren’t feeling that brave you could just get your 60s fix with your morning coffee. This geometric mug, again from Jonathan Adler, will give you a feel for the period without having to use psychedelic wallpaper.
Be brave this Spring and explore the decorating styles of the past to find your own style for 2012. Remember that you don’t need to faithfully reproduce the look – choose the elements you like and even mix and match from different eras. It’s your home so get creative!

I love this blue green scheme, really rich and fresh looking. I decorated my parents bedroom in this colour scheme and mum liked it so much we then went and painted the bathroom walls in Little Greene’s Citrine. It looks stunning x
I love the pops of color!
The designs are pretty one. These designs are looking attractive due to elegant color. Such colors and designs are loved by many people.
i love the mug, but I also like the wallpaper idea. It would be great as an accent or a focal point.
Completely agree Carol – not sure I could live with a whole room of the wallpapers but they make a wonderful feature
