The New Traditionalists
Today we are featuring another discovery from my Blog Tour NYC trip to New York. The New Traditionalists very generously held cocktails for the Blog Tour crew at the Architectural Digest Home Design Show – and what great furniture for relaxing and drinking cocktails. The wonderful Bar Stool No. Forty was located next to their infamous Bar Cart on the stand – and after a long day at the show it was a very welcome sight!
The Bar Stool No. Forty was introduced to their range this year. Inspired by the Chesterfield sofas this version is upholstered in a Tomato Leather with a Solid Silver colour glaze on Oak. Talk about a statement piece for any home! You often find bar stools are uncomfortable and you have to perch on them, these one envelope you in comfort.
Based in a studio in New York and manufactured in New England the company unveiled their first collection at the Architectural Digest Home Show back in 2010 and has continued to grow since then. The founders also run ducduc and the two companies share a super smart showroom in Soho, New York.
A really interesting feature about The New Traditionalists range is the ability to easily customise their pieces to suit your own interior. Their showroom carries a huge range of options for finishes of your furniture and offers a design service. Their website also shows the full range of finishes and fabrics available, a selection of the leathers is shown below. This personalisation ensures your furniture is unique, and to your own taste. Deep Rose Solid Colour Glaze with Kipling Pear Green leather? They will do it for you!
If you find yourself in the Soho area of New York make sure you visit their showroom to see the products yourself. I found a gorgeous chair there and rested my aching feet. The Chair no. Twenty Nine was super comfortable and I loved the short fringe detail – I could have happily shipped this piece back to London …
As the company says “If you believe that “traditional” and “cool” are not mutually exclusive, you are one of The New Traditionalists” – take a look on their website and let me know what you like.
