Decorex preview 23-26 September
We have just a month to go until the start of Decorex on 23rd September. Last year at this time I was the official blogger of Decorex2011 and so was eagerly awaiting my blogging challenge – this year I will be going to Decorex very much calmer and looking forward to seeing some of my favourite suppliers and industry friends.
Decorex is celebrating it’s 35 year anniversary this year and it has grown substantially since the launch in 1978 at the Marriott Hotel in Mayfair. Now a resident every September at the Royal Hospital Chelsea the show includes over 300 exhibitors and numerous specially created features, bars and restaurants.
The drama will start this year as soon as you reach the show. To celebrate the 35th anniversary of Decorex, Dame Vivienne Westwood has agreed to design the Decorex Foyer. After the eclectic design of Nicky Haslam last year I think we can expect more of the same from Dame Vivienne this year.
Each year the exhibitors of Decorex are careful selected and represent the highest calibre of suppliers to the Interior Design industry. I am looking forward to seeing the furniture of Stuart Scott Associates and it is wonderful to see PaperBoy Wallpaper exhibiting for the first time. The Tux sofa by Stuart Scott is a personal favourite – and who doesn’t love the Spitfire range from Paperboy?
I am also pleased to see Amy Kent will be displaying her wonderful rugs and Preedy Glass will also have a stand this year. Amy provides high quality bespoke rugs at affordable prices and I’d love one for my own home. Preedy Glass are based near to our office and are supplying antiqued mirrors for a current project so it’s great to see a company friend exhibiting at Decorex.
Other exhibitors that I’m looking forward to seeing are Evitavonni, Splinter Works and De La Cuona. Also after last years very popular stand it will be interesting to see how The Little Greene Paint Company top their oversized colourful characters!
The seminar programme is always a highlight of Decorex and this year’s programme certainly delivers! New designers will find the Great Expectations seminar useful, it will discuss the all important client-designer relationship and how to get it right! If you design bathrooms the Where next for Bathroom Design seminar will be interesting. On a lighter note Nina Campbell and William Yeoward will be discussing Inspirational Table Settings and the art of entertaining.
Enjoy Decorex, whether you are an exhibitor or a visitor there is something for everyone. After my blogging efforts last year I am looking forward to enjoying the show, and maybe stopping off at that Champagne bar … see you there?
