Jonathan Adler – The Rug Company

September 20, 2012

The very talented Jonathan Adler has just launched a rug collection for The Rug Company. Last night I attended the launch party with Will from  Bright.Bazaar and Kate from the fabric of my life to get a good look at them – and also talk to the man himself!

The development of the range has taken about two years Jonathan explained. He has known the founders of The Rug Company, Chris and Suzanne Sharp for a long time. When they were looking for a new designer to add to their new Studio Collection he was delighted to be approached – and he fitted their brief perfectly. As a recognised authority on colour Jonathan also brought his understanding of good design, and his love of well made and crafted products to the new collection.

The new range features 9 different rugs, all featuring his signature use of geometrics and bright colours. Handmade using Tibetan wool the result is a deep thick rug that has a very luxurious feel to it. The Harlequin rug shown above is my favourite from the collection. Inspired by the design of a backgammon board it is available either with a pop of acid green or if you really want some colour choose the Multi version featuring hot pink! For a rug 2.3m x 1.5m expect to pay around £1,000 – this is a great price for such a well designed and good quality rug.

The full collection can be viewed online or pop along to one of The Rug Company showrooms to see the full collection. I am sure you will love the colours and designs, these are the rugs I want in my own home – it would be the Harlequin Green for me, what’s your favourite?
