Room of the Week – warm wood bathroom

March 9, 2011

This weeks Room of the Week is a gorgeous bathroom from the Homes and Gardens galleries featuring clean lines and contemporary fittings.

This bathroom has been designed and fitted out to provide a lovely warm relaxing environment.  It is often considered essential to fully tile the bathroom but this is not usually needed and the finished mood will be softer if the tiles are complimented with a paint finish – although do remember to use a paint suitable for the steamy environment of a bathroom.

We often suffer with a lack of space in our bathrooms so the use of wall hung fittings, as shown here, helps to accentuate a feeling of spaciousness.  The Laufen Pro range would be a good place to find your bathroom fittings.  The range shown below has a large selection of basins and furniture with many wall hung options, although if you have doubts about the strength of your walls you can add feet to the furniture.

Over the past couple of years we have seen a move away from beige limestone bathrooms with darker moodier colours being used.  The Stonehenge tile range from Reed Harris Tiles shown below is a very versatile porcelain tile that offers good looks and high performance.  The range has a variety of sizes and shapes, it would be good to combine the large tiles shown on a bathroom floor with the detailed wall tiles in a shower area.

Every bathroom has to include good stylish taps and Hansgrohe have an excellent range, this is definitely one area where you should try to spend as much as your budget will allow.  The Raindance Showerpipe shown below has a fantastic 240mm overhead shower, big enough for a thorough soaking every morning, and it also includes a useful hand shower.  Before you do get too excited though remember to check that your water pressure is sufficient for the products you intend to use.

Finally when you have chosen your fittings and fixtures don’t forgot the finishing touches.  The orange flowers shown in this bathroom add a gentle splash of colour, adding flowers is a simple thing to do that adds a touch of beauty and life to your bathroom.

Great post Andrew, some wonderful tips. Definitely like a dark hued bathroom.
