Room of the Week – glam modern living room

March 30, 2011

This weeks Room of the Week is a modern living room with injections of glamour.  From the House to Home galleries this room combines heavy dark colours with bright splashes of colour.

Decorating with dark colours creates a very dramatic mood to your interior, especially at night if lit by candlelight.  This room has been designed to maximise the glamorous level but also has added fun touches with the splashes of colours.  The dark feature wall will also ensure the TV blends into the wall when switched off.

Adding colour in a light fitting is a great way to introduce colour and if you source an affordable fitting it means you can easily refresh the interior when you want to.   The Bobble Lamp from Next shown below is only £45 so can easily be replaced to renew the interior.

Designers Guild is a great choice if you are looking for some colour to add into your interior through fabric.  Started in 1970 by Tricia Guild the company stocks a wide range of furnishing fabrics, wallpapers and bedroom and bathroom collections – all perfect for injecting colour into any interior.

Adding a traditional styled mirror into a modern interior can achieve an eclectic look.  The mirror shown below from Frenchfinds would add an antique touch into any interior but could easily work with modern furnishings.

By combining a dark feature wall with other brighter colours a wonderful interior has been created that is high on the glamorous scale but retains a great sense of fun by using bright accessories.
