4 products for 4 rooms – living dining bathing garden

July 4, 2011

I’m running a series of blog posts, each covering product recommendations. These are products I have usually specified for clients, so I know they work well. There will be 4 products for 4 different rooms.

The Parlour snuggler from John Lewis is a good choice if you want to provide more seating than a chair but don’t have room for a full sofa.  This furniture is available from stock and is featured in a very serviceable Harlequin fabric.  We recently used it in a project to prepare an apartment for renting, it was available immediately and is keenly priced at £799.

The Wien range of dining chairs from Calligaris is highly versatile and will fit comfortable into many dining rooms or kitchens.  Manufactured in polycarbonate they are available in a range of colours allowing you to add colour to your interior – but the transparent properties ensure it will not dominate your room.  We teamed them with a traditional table to provide an eclectic style for a client.

Sourcing competitively priced but well made bathroom furniture can be a headache, there is little in the market between DIY offerings and  ‘designer’ cabinets.  We recently used the Kobe cabinet from Tavistock for a client’s bathroom.  It retails for around £300 with the integrated basin and is available in both wall hung and floor mounted options, with a range of sizes.  A good budget choice for bathroom furniture.

Having recently finished a garden for a client we needed to source garden furniture.  Barlow Tyrie has a great selection covering the traditional style of teak furniture, through to the more contemporary selection of woven rattan.  We specified the Loop chair shown, the seat is made from Textilene® and is very durable with 4 colours available.  It is also stackable so easy to store over winter – although it can remain outside all year round.

The chairs are around £250 each, there are many options for colours and finishes combination so they can work in many interiors. They are based on the Thonet, using modern materials to give it a new twist.

I think this is the kind of choice of furniture which could work well in any room of the house. This certainly gives me a few ideas for different kinds of rooms around the house.

Its great to see that there is a wide variety of patio furniture out there to suit everyone’s style and personality. Like you pointed out one should also take into consideration the quality and durability of the furniture as well as the surroundings, making sure that everything blends in well.
