Room of the week – Brick wall bedroom

July 13, 2011

This weeks Room of the Week is a bedroom featuring an exposed brick wall.  From the House to Home galleries this bedroom combines the urban feel of an exposed wall with the glamour of a modern four-poster bed and a lovely chandelier.

An exposed wall in any room will create a lovely contrast if teamed with luxury finishes.  Unfortunately achieving the look by exposing the bricks of your own home can produce varying results so it is a good idea to use an imitation product to create the look.  Dreamwall sells a large variety of imitation stone tiles for the walls including stone, slate, various brick finishes and other contemporary options.  The Ladrillo range shown below would add the exposed brick look but also bring a warmth to the room to the rich colour, and is supplied in lightweight panels that are 115 x 85cm and very easy to install.

The beautiful 4 poster bed frame featured below is from Lombok which is styled in a contemporary fashion that embraces a traditional style.  The key here is simplicity, the bed frame is lovingly crafted in distressed black lacquered solid hardwood with little added detail so the beauty of the wood is the focus.  If you team this simple frame with luxurious bed linen the room itself requires very little decoration.

Adding a pendant light to this room adds a another layer of luxury to this room.  The chandelier below by Original BTC is available from John Lewis  and it gives a wonderful light to the room.  The fitting is manufactured in bone china and available in three different sizes, the smallest is shown below.

By combining the warmth of the exposed bricks with the simple furnishing a very relaxing bedroom has been created.  This is a room where less is definitely more, sometimes you need to remember to let the beauty of the furniture be the focus of a room.

We really like the simplicity of the white bedlinen — a change from the inevitable pile of occasional cushions

Love the exposed brick wall, I think leaving a wall like this brings some character to a room, look fantastic when mixed with modern furniture and contempory design!
