4 products for 4 rooms … hallway living cooking bathing

February 13, 2012

I’m running a series of blog posts, each covering product recommendations. These are products I have usually specified for clients, so I know they work well. There will be 4 products for 4 different rooms.

Hallway

We recently specified a rug from Stepevi for a clients apartment in Chelsea. We wanted a signature rug for the hallway that would make a statement when visitors arrive. The hallway is finished in a dusky grey colour and the Harvest rug in purple shades works perfectly. The rug is constructed from vintage rugs that have been re-dyed and hand stitched together.

Living

A client in Chelsea recently asked for a fireplace in their apartment but unfortunately the chimney is unusable so a gas fire was not an option. We are using a Bioethanol fire from EcoSmart with a traditional limestone surround to provide a solution. Bioethanol is a clean burning fuel so requires no flue. The burner shown can also be fitted into existing fireplaces if you want to install an eco friendly fire.

Cooking

We recently needed an inset sink for a clients kitchen. Due to the worktop choice an under-mounted sink was not possible but we still wanted a smart contemporary styled sink. We used the Blanco 5 S-IF sink for this project, the simple styling worked very well in their kitchen.  Blanco are not the cheapest sinks but the fittings in a kitchen are one item where you should never economise.

Bathing

Due to electrical regulations the choice for positioning bathroom light switches is limited. Taptile is a touch sensitive slim panel that is placed behind tiled or ceramic finishes to allow you to control the lights from inside your bathroom. It allows you to turn the lights on/off and also dim them, it can also control the extractor fan. We are currently installing Taptile in two Islington bathrooms.

Great ideas! Love the Taptile so renters can easily turn lights on and off even when they are inside the bathroom. Also, the inset sink makes a great addition for the kitchen sink when preparing meals.
