Top 5 Discoveries on Blog Tour NYC

March 24, 2012

After months of anticipation I’ve spent this week in New York for Blog Tour NYC. Before leaving London I said the tour was all about Design Discovery and we have all certainly done that this week. I am today featuring 5 new discoveries – all companies that I did not know before arriving in New York.

I’m including some snaps taken on our tour but suggest you head to each companies website to see the full beauty of their products.  Higher quality images will follow after Blog Tour NYC …

On Tuesday we went to the D and D Building, a treasure trove for interior design. We visited Maya Romanoff, a wall covering specialist. Understanding about the origins of their products was interesting – they even have a wall covering made by monks in Tibet using chopsticks!

Also at the D and D Building we found Scube Design. They will make bespoke cushions in an enormous selection of colours, with any decoration you desire. And the best thing? The lead time is usually just one week!

On Wednesday we spent the day at the Architectural Digest Home Show. I really loved the work of Palo Samko. The tall chairs were very unusual and superbly well made. His clocks and mirrors also stood out as a must have product.

Yesterday we visit the The New Traditionalists in SoHo. Wow – what an amazing store. Creating hand crafted bespoke furniture the range is amazing. They can create furniture in any finish you want, so you great the chance to really go crazy if you want!

While on a design tour of SoHO yesterday we also visited Canvas. This was another ‘I love everything here’ moment. Featuring home accessories created by craftsman from around the world I may have to head back to this store later today …

The Design Discovery continues today so hopefully we will find more amazing products. I need to work out how much space I have in my suitcase then I’m back off to SoHo to see what else I can find …
