Room of the Week – colourful home office

May 16, 2012

This weeks Room of the Week is a luxurious home office bursting with colour. From the House to Home galleries this room combines purples, greens and gold to create a wonderful space for working.

Creating a home office that sits well with your home decorating scheme is often hard to do. The room can become very functional and boring but you need to remember that you really should want to work in this space. Take time to plan it to your requirements and you will love going to work!

A good desk is the principle requirement for any office and you should decide on your needs before starting to look. If your work is mainly on a laptop the desk above would be perfect. If you prefer a more traditional desk, but still want to inject colour look at the Chrysler Desk from Conran. Providing a large amount of storage the desk is available in Electric Blue and Black with differing door and cupboard options.

Away from a desk chair, good seating is desirable if your work involves many hours of reading. The Slipper chair from Stuart Scott would be a good choice for casual reading and lounging, and it also has great style. With a solid wood frame and legs this furniture is built in England with each piece hand signed and numbered.

However you design your home office remember that you should love this space. Whether you choose to go colourful and luxurious as here, or your style is more conservative make sure the room is comfortable and your productivity will go sky high!

Andrew, Great post, what a dramatic room! It takes the drama to the line between taste and overdone; not an easy task!
