Room of the Week – simple living room with a splash of colour

August 22, 2012

This weeks Room of the Week is a plain themed living room with a splash of colour provided by the Union Jack. From the House to Home galleries the simple tonal interior provides a perfect stage for the flag.

Following the success of London2012 this room allows you to continue with the patriotic feel of the Olympic Games. The Union Jack has been given a distressed look to give it a modern take and allow it to blend into the room. The simple decoration of the interior will allow you to easily change the room when it is time to update the look.

This wallpaper from Cole & Son in made in collaboration with Vivienne Westwood. It is sold as a complete panel so is easy to apply to you wall and is 270cm x 150cm so would make a real statement in any room! The image is of an original Union Jack used by Vivienne Westwood in her punk era fashion shows. Remember there is a correct way to hang your Union Jack!

For a large curved sofa take a look at the Arne from B&B Italia. This sofa is a real heavyweight and perfect for anyone who wants a large sofa for lounging. We recently used one in a client’s media room to create the perfect seating for cinema viewing. Designed by Antonio Citterio and available in a wide variety of fabrics it adds a touch of Italian style to any room.

If you want to add a splash of colour to your room using your national flag is a great way to do it. We should all be proud of our country and using your flag to decorate shows your national pride.

Just been trawling the web looking for some inspiration for my upcoming living room makeover and just had to comment – National flag is such a great idea for adding that splash of colour needed if you are opting for neutral decor. Thanks for sharing!
