Room of the Week

July 17, 2013

After a few days away from the office working on the refurbishment of my own bathroom it seems a good idea to feature a bathroom as this weeks Room of the Week. Although it is often viewed just as one of the functional rooms of the house, it is also one of the most used, so deserves to be carefully planned.

This gorgeous bathroom is furnished in a Hamman style and is an oasis of luxury. The walls feature mother of pearl tiles and the lavastone flooring has underfloor heating. Many of the essentials we always include when planning a bathroom are shown here – the custom made storage, the niches and the glass fronted cabinets all ensure this is a top class bathroom.

Although this is a high end bathroom however much you have to spend on your own bathroom you can still have a stylish bathroom by carefully choosing your products. Adequate storage is essential to ensure an uncluttered room but bathroom cabinets are often expensive. Ikea have recently expanded their bathroom range and have a good selection of wall cabinets. The range includes this double sink unit with lots of storage – for a very reasonable price of £375. Available in five different finishes the price also includes the double sink.

If your budget doesn’t run to mother of pearl tiles the new Chic tile from Topps Tiles would be a good substitute. Recently launched they are available in a number of shades that are very effective when combined. Ask your tiler to lay them in a random fashion as shown here and it helps to visually enlarge the room.

This room was originally featured in the extensive galleries of House to Home. Take a look over at their website for room inspiration, and be sure to check back here every week to find which one of the rooms has been showcased.
