Room of the Week

January 29, 2014

We are relaunching the blog today after a short New Year break and a trip away to Norway last week. Today’s Room of the Week is a nod to the design delights seen in the Nordic region and also a hint that Spring will soon be on the way as the table is decorated with beautiful spring flowers.

Nordic interiors are known for their simple pared down elegance. In this dining room the base decoration scheme is very neutral and this look is enhanced by the plain white chairs and crisp white linen tablecloth. If you like to inject colour into your interior this look also allows you to easily update for the seasons. Choose fresh greens as a compliment as we approach spring, then move into rich berry colours for the cooler months.

Finding accessories from the Nordic region is definitely easier now that online stores like Nordic House allow you to browse for products from your own home. After working in Sweden for many years the owners of Nordic House have a real understanding of the design aesthetic unique to this region. The simple style of this bench and candlesticks is perfect if you are trying to create a slice of Scandinavia in your own home.

Nordic House 2

This room was originally featured in the extensive galleries of House to Home. Take a look over at their website for room inspiration, and be sure to check back here every week to find which one of the rooms has been showcased.
