May Design Series
Next week sees the return of the May Design Series to London’s ExCel. Following a great launch last year the show has grown and promises to deliver even more exhibitors and features to visitors this year. Split into five sections covering different aspects of the interiors trade whether you are a fabric fiend, a kitchen king or a bathroom boffin you are bound to find something that appeals. Having studied the list of exhibitors (as it always pays to do your research before you visit a show!) I’ve selected one exhibitor from each area of the show to give you a preview what to expect.
The Furniture Show is a new section of the exhibition and sees the show previously known as Interiors UK move to London and adopt a new name. When specifying and designing furniture the details are so important so it’s great to see Armac Martin, a high quality handles and knobs manufacturer, exhibiting in this section. Based in Birmingham their range includes an extensive selection of both stock and bespoke products. The Corona knobs below are hand polished and nickel-plated which gives a very modern high-end look.
On any design project the importance of well designed lighting is very important. It can really make or break an interior and the choice of light fittings should be considered from the start of any project – you need to make sure you get the cabling right on the first fix! Ebb & Flow are a lighting designer and manufacturer who combine classic British and Nordic style and are exhibiting in the Lighting section of the show. Designed to bring warmth into an interior any of their light fittings would create a great feature to your home.
Once you’ve renovated and decorated your home it’s the decorative accessories that will finish the look. To find the latest selection head to the Decor section of the show. Here you will find Bluebone Imports who have been in business for more than 10 years and stock a wide selection of furniture and decorative accessories. If you have a very sporting lifestyle the selection below would be perfect for adding style to your home. Polo anyone?
Over in the Kitchen and Bathroom section of the show you will find The Vintage Fridge Company. There are some occasions when the built in or standalone fridge isn’t appropriate and your interior needs something way more stylish. This is where this company comes into their own. No need to pop into the kitchen to the fridge if the lovely piece of furniture below is in your living room hiding a secret drinks cupboard! It’s a modern version of a traditional ice box and perfect for adding style and convenience to any home. I’ve also just discovered they supplied the fridges that The Chicken Shop keeps its amazingly good Apple Pie in!
The final section of the May Design Series is DX, this is where you will find new ideas and some of the most unique products at the show. Journeyman Furniture are located here and I can’t wait to see their products. I love this Footprint lamp, the wood is beautiful and then the quirky addition of the footprint adds interest.
Pop over to the May Design Series website to find out more information on the show. The doors open this Sunday and the show runs for three days. See you there?
