I’m a complete pushover when it comes to lanterns and I’ve got all types in my own home. They are a great way to add some Danish “hygge” to your home – that wonderful term that has no exact translation but roughly means coziness, We have shiny stainless steel lanterns in our reception room, wrought iron ones on the patio and beautiful industrial Metal style lanterns on the decking at the end of the garden. The metal ones are from Nordic House so it’s good to see they have extended their range with recent new additions for 2014.
These two new lanterns to the Nordic House range both feature nature rope detail in the handle and would make a perfect addition to your home to add some marine style. Both of these lanterns are over 30cm tall so would make a good sized statement in your interior.
If you want something even bigger the Arched Hurricane Lantern below is an impressive 67cm tall and has unusual open sides with a round inner hurricane. The nickel on this lantern has been sand blasted to give it an aged feel. This would be a lovely lantern to use in a group of three to make a feature in your garden over the summer months. If the weather does take a downwards turn though they could easily be brought in your home and create your own dose of hygge inside.
The full range of 2014 products is now available on the Nordic House website so pop over there and start browsing for some Nordic style to add to your own home.
