Room of the Week

February 16, 2015

This week for our Room of the Week we are heading into the bathroom. I am finalising the design of the principal bathroom on a house in Highgate this week we’ve been working on for a few months. After many different layouts I think we are almost there and I’ve specified a large walk in shower similar to this bathroom.

The idea of a large bathroom appeals to many people but a good functional design is often hard to achieve without the room looking bare and barn like. The half height wall in this room zones a section of the room to create the shower area, while also visually making the footprint of the room smaller.

Samuel Heath : Style Moderne

Using marble in the bathroom will give it a very classic look. We’ve updated the brassware by using the Style Moderne range from Samuel Heath. Drawing inspiration from the iconic Art Deco period of the 1920s and 1930s I love the style of the levers and the cross tops in the black finish option. The levers are also available in metal or glass, and if you are want to create a unique look the range is also available in a country bronze and a city bronze.

I’ve specified a bath from Clearwater Baths for this project. The Formoso natural stone bath is a standard 1700mm size but holds a huge amount of water to create the ultimate luxury bath. The rim is a standard 10mm throughout the bath so it adds a lightweight feature to the bath. The style is perfect for our project, adding a contemporary touch to the bathroom design.

Clearwater : Formosa

We are currently onsite with this project so my plans will be realised in a couple of months. Watch this space, if our client goes with this scheme it’ll really be the signature bathroom the house deserves.

This room was originally featured in the extensive galleries of House to Home. Take a look over at their website for room inspiration, and be sure to check back here every week to find which one of the rooms has been showcased.

That smoothline stone bath looks like an outstanding feature and worthwhile investment for the property, well worth a good soak!
