London Design Fair: my picks
Well after a long week, the London Design Festival is almost over and today we are featuring the London Design Fair which is on until tomorrow at the Old Truman Brewery in London East End. The show includes Tent London and Super Brands London and probably has the most to see! It’s enormous.
Our chosen exhibitors today all manufacture furniture. First up is Totem Road, a sustainable furniture company hailing from Australia and now available in the UK. Their furniture features mid century style with added elements, I really like the marble table range Kara. These tables are topped with Carrara marble on a solid oak base. The full collection also includes beds and bedroom furniture and can be seen online.
Alexander Mueller launched his new Dahlia collection to the UK this week. We’ve featured his furniture back in 2013 when we saw his work at Clerkenwell so it was great to see him again. The new collection is made of solid European Ash, I love the coffee tables with the split colouring detail. The furniture is produced in collaboration with the family-run Italian manufacturer Universal. I’m really hoping to specify this furniture for a project soon, it has a lovely warmth and would enhance any interior.
Our final exhibitor is Barnby Design, who are based on the Welsh border near Hay-on-Wye. The Ferron side table grabbed my attention as it features a concrete top. With industrial style interiors still very popular this table needs to be in production – they are currently looking for a manufacturer/retailer for this product. The Ted table is also a favourite product, the legs are finished by hand on a lathe to add another layer of detail.
